TMA Tech Innovation Lab
This year, the TMA PTO demonstrated their dedication to purposeful education by investing in innovation. The iTEAM Lab of Tustin Memorial Academy functions as a student-centered design lab for collaborative, solution-centered educational research and development. Powered by teachers and volunteers, the PTO is proud to offer the most effective tools to facilitate collaboration and an unprecedented environment for student-driven solutions.
TMA SCHOOL-WIDE STEAM CHALLENGE
Students in every grade level at TMA have the exciting opportunity to participate in an annual school-wide STEAM challenge that encourages them to think like engineers, scientists, artists, and mathematicians. The goal of these activities is for students to problem solve, think critically, collaborate and have fun.
For the 2018 STEAM Challenge, our entire school read "Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed," a feel-good story that inspires and celebrates a world full of ordinary deeds! Can one child's good deed change the world? We decided to explore the book's central question through the Engineering Design Process. Students are working in groups to create a Rube Goldberg machine to find out how kindness can be passed around in innovative ways.
Will our TMA Stars start a chain reaction that multiplies around the world? Ask your child how their creation process is going and look forward to seeing all these amazing contraptions at our Open House on May 10th!
