OUR MISSION
The mission of the TMA Garden is to provide an outdoor learning and gathering space for the TMA community to use and enjoy. We bring concepts like math and science out of the traditional classroom setting and apply them outside in a “living classroom.”
WE ARE A LIVING, CHANGING OUTDOOR CLASSROOM
Our one-third acre TMA Garden boasts 22 class beds, an orchard, 2 student-driven composting programs, and a student designed rainwater cistern. We are a certified Monarch Waystation and have a California Native garden. Each month we host a Farmer’s Market where we sell produce raised by our students and families. Classes are scheduled to visit once a month for garden-based learning. Teachers always have access to the garden so that any lesson whether it be math or history has a place in our outdoor classroom.
BE A PART OF THE TMA GARDEN COMMUNITY
We host monthly Farmers Markets on the Star Terrace. Our fundraising events provide parents and families an opportunity to socialize for a good cause. Throughout the school year and in the summer, the TMA garden hosts family work days where families can learn and work together as well as earn service hours.
The TMA Garden gives our students the ability to participate in building, planting, maintaining and harvesting a garden. The garden allows a hands-on experience that keeps our children connected and in touch with our living environment.
